Revol: The Prettiest French Bakeware

Revol Porcelaine | The Naptime Chef

It’s been a while since I tried a new piece of bakeware. The dishes I was given over a decade ago for my wedding are still going strong. But recently I had the opportunity to try some beautiful pieces from Revol and decided to give them a go. I didn’t need a new tart pan or chicken roaster, but their pretty designs intrigued me and I wanted to see how they’d fit into my everyday cooking and kitchen aesthetic.

The unique thing about these dishes is that they are very thoughtfully designed with just the right balance of fun and useful. A chicken roaster shaped like a chicken has, admittedly, never been on my wish list. But once I used it I was instantly taken with the adorable shape that can go straight from oven to table and is the perfect size for baking a 5 pound chicken.

Even better, it can be used as a baking dish for a casserole (hot chicken salad, anyone?), a serving bowl for salad, or even for making a giant ice cream sundae. And, when it the food is all cleaned out, it can go straight into the dishwasher and be displayed on a shelf for all to see. Needless to say, all of these features make it more desirable than my regular roasting pan which I typically scrub by hand and keep in the basement between uses.

The tart pan is equally as pretty and is a great size at almost 12 inches in diameter. The fluted edges make anything you bake immediately look fancy. I am not one for fancy pie crust decoration so this feature is ideal for me! I also can’t get over the houndstooth patterned bottom. The pretty color and sturdy design make it ideal for taking straight from the oven to the table.

The sides are not removable like a metal tart pan, but that is hardly a problem. When I made a quiche in it for dinner I just sliced the quiche pieces we wanted and put the rest in the fridge for the next evening. I could also see using it to make my caramel chocolate tart or caramelized Meyer lemon tart. It would even be great for my Dutch almond tart. (Just listing all of these makes me want to go bake about 10 tarts!)

While it is easy to find regular bakeware at your local big box store I recommend that you give Revol a long look before you decide what to buy. The unique French legacy combined with the interesting design, gorgeous colors, and usability makes this a classic line a must for everyone. In fact, I think it would be fun to collect it piece by piece over time, especially the cool crumpled cups and the color lab tea collection. In fact, I might do just that!

Oh, that chicken roaster is fabulous! It also looks like the “beak” is perfect for pouring out the pan juices. Love it!
